Lovely gesture from @KarisTeetan to donate his riding fees from tonight’s racing at Happy Valley Racecourse to the family of his great friend Nooresh Juglall who rode in Hong Kong for a short time and whom we sadly lost over the weekend in a track fall in Mauritius.

Well done for setting such a good and positive example, Karis.

What Karis has done is certainly better than the Roaring Silence surrounding the fatal fall of Nooresh Juglal from certain racing quarters in Hong Kong.

Hmmmm, wonder why, Sherlock? Elementary, isn’t it?

PARTING SHOT

And we finally bid a fond Adieu to the hardest working man in Hong Kong racing- Edward Sadler. Edward leaves to join the somewhat rickety racing.com good ship lollipop as- we don’t really know. Chairman? Who knows?

For one fleeting momento, we thought that Eduardo had once again changed his mind.
After all, remember his announcement a few months ago about leaving for Singapore to be a race caller, only to stay put and show his prowess in playing The Art Of The Deal with the HKJC- before came the NEXT announcement about joining racing.com?

One couldn’t be blamed for thinking there had been another switcheroo when watching the HKJC’s  Cecil B DeMille production that is the venerable “Racing To Win” fronted by The Three Amigos- Juan, Duez and Pancho.

What surprised us was the amount of screen time given to Eduardo. He was everywhere- interviewing trainers, interviewing jockeys, summarising his thoughts on a race and, we never hung about to see it, but possibly playing the kazoo.

Now, after a recent farewell party where we understand much was dissected and discussed regarding the comings and mainly goings and going on taking place in Hong Kong racing these days, young Edward is finally off while “Happy Trails” plays in the background. We wish him well.

We don’t believe he will be the last to bid adieu- by choice or because, well, as the revised version of The Peter Principle might put it, incompetence being rewarded for far too long. Plus, one has to wonder if time’s up for many things in Hong Kong.
The world’s longest cocktail party just might be over for many…
