RACE 1

Caspar Fownes backs up Speedy Wally (9) from a quiet run on Sunday to its more preferred track with Chad Schofield, below, aboard.

The combination should go close and might even form a stable quinella with race favourite Royal Racer. (3)

RACE 2

Exponents (5) backs up from Sunday and with Blake Shinn retaining the ride could go one better than its last start second…but we only give it a place chance.

RACE 3

Being the first leg of the Six Up, what was extremely noticeable last season was just how many favourites flopped in this race. So tread warily and be aware of booby traps and don’t be swayed by the odds. Try your luck with some outsiders or anything around 7-8 to 1.

2-5-4-6

RACE 4

Green Luck (5) should have the edge over Doctor Geoff (1) in the night’s most interesting race.

5-1-2-9

RACE 5

Drawn barrier one over the 1000 metres after a very good second in its debut run last season and with champion jockey Zac Purton aboard, Best Smile (3) should be too good for this lot. For an outsider if taking a tierce, keep speedster Multimax (11) very safe.

3-5-4-11

RACE 6

All Best Friends (8) should have an easy run on the speed for very promising 10-pound claiming apprentice Alfred Chan and might just lead all the way. Very Sweet Orange with Jack Wong up might attack for the lead which could set things up for something to come from the clouds and ruin the best laid plans.

This is a race of tactics and horses like Strathallan (2), Lady First (1), and Bullish Brother (7) all need to be factored in. It’s a nightmarish race!

11-5-2-7

RACE 7

Joao Moreira jumps aboard Perfect To Play (10) which has a good a chance as any in what is a wide open race. Other chances: Charity Go (1), Chefano (2), All You Know (8) and the Alberto Sanna and Douglas Whyte double up combo Last Kingdom (11) which might start under the odds.

10-8-3-1

Race 8

After coming so close to riding his first winner in Hong Kong, it would only be appropriate that Blake Shinn would break the duck with Frustrated (6) which is certainly not without a chance.

The horses to beat, however, could be Smart Leader (7), Joao Moreira’s mount, Jumbo Happiness (4) for the lethal combination of The Zac Attack and Caspar Fownes, the King of the Valley when it comes to training winners at the city track, and if there’s to be a party pooper, two to keep safe- Dream Come True (1) and Ballistic King (9).

7-9-4-1
