RACE 1

THE FAST LANE 1

SELECTIONS: 1-10-3-11

RACE 2

SELECTIONS: 6-4-5-1

RACE 3

The consistent Ensuring with the cheek pieces on for the first time and Dougie Whyte riding at 117 pounds makes a lot of appeal. It would have made even more appeal if Whyte were to ride it with his cheek pieces on. One can’t have everything.

THE FAST LANE 2

Alex Lai having a ride for John Size- his first for the great horseman- aboard Modern Fortune catches the eye and is a runner that should be included in Quartets.

SELECTIONS: (10)-2-3-4-5-8

RACE 4

Though off to a slow start and thinking your win tickets were confetti, Pakistan Baby won going away at its last start over course and distance.

THE FAST LANE 3

THE FAST LANE 4

Though up in class, it comes in at 119 pounds with Douglas Whyte riding a pound overweight to retain the ride. That’s a tip in itself. It must be the banker in the first leg of the Triple Trio with taking Dilly as a double banker. Dilly didn’t dally to win by saluting at its debut at 33 to 1 when ridden by Nash Rawiller and, supposedly, “not ready”.

THE FAST LANE 5

At its last start, it came third with a decent effort. Tonight, it has the Magic Man taking over from the suspended “Wokman”, below, stirring things up, carries topweight, and should be the only competition to Pakistan Baby.

WHYTE WASH 12

The race looks scarily straight-forward, but this might be one of those times not to agonise and over-think things.

THE FAST LANE 6

SELECTIONS: (1-11)-3-4-5-7-10

RACE 5

Originally, many would have taken Golden Chopsticks and Joyeux as double bankers based on their recent runs, but Beware The Ides of March and also the Tides Of May.

THE FAST LANE 7

Joyeux has been withdrawn whereas Zac Purton is out of action tonight.

As has been proven in recent weeks, whenever the excellent Aussie rider has been sidelined with his kidney stones problem, the replacement riders shoot blanks.

THE FAST LANE 8

All Times Lucky takes the place of Joyeux and it and Golden Chopsticks can be still be taken as double bankers in one set of Triple Trio bets. Not for me though as I have doubts about Golden Chopsticks carrying topweight and drawn barrier 12 over the 1200m.

THE FAST LANE 9

I would rather look at either Peace On Earth or Easy Access as bankers with City Power looking very close to opening its winning account over course and distance.

THE FAST LANE 10

That last run of City Power to come third with Jacky Tong on its back was eye-catching, and tonight, it has the very much in-form Vincent CY Ho aboard. Vinnie looks to have some good rides tonight.

THE FAST LANE 11

SELECTIONS: (2-4)-1-5-6-8-11

RACE 6

One of those staying events over 2200m and where the savviest jockey wins in what will become a race of tactics. Brett Prebble is especially good in these races, and where he almost arrogantly toys with his rivals in a game of cat and mouse.

THE FAST LANE 12

Ensuring with Moreira up looks to be wanting this distance after a strong third over 1800m, while Photon Willie, which was to have been ridden by the Zac Attack, and now has Prebble, below, aboard, was a close third over this distance- but at Shatin- where many other runners here have also been running for quite a while.

THE FAST LANE 13

Tonight, some tackle this distance at the city track for the first time, which often makes things a guessing game.

THE FAST LANE 14

Ambitious Champion was a good second over course and distance for the enigmatic Mirco Demuro, below, five starts ago.

THE FAST LANE 15

Tonight it has Douglas Whyte aboard and must be close to being banker material- and should be at decent odds- whereas one at very big odds that could crash the party is Level Player.

THE FAST LANE 16

Level Player might have won over course and distance many moons ago, Kemo Sabay, but after a very strange number of outings over different distances and even a run over 1650m on the Shatin all-weather track where it was over thirteen lengths behind the winner, it comes to the city track, and has The Plunger aboard- Ben So.

THE FAST LANE 17

Like the Ghostbusters, when a horse has been going around to take a drop in the ratings, who are you gonna call when it finally reaches a winning mark again? The Plunger. This could be the real blowout horse for Six Up players.

THE FAST LANE 18

SELECTIONS:

(1-5)-6-7-8-9-11-12

RACE 7

Three horses stand out here- Wah May Baby, Peace And Prosperity and Excel Oneself, which was given quite a mind-blowing ride by Brett Prebble at its last start over 1000m where it came from last to rattle home- three wide- for a close third. If ridden on the pace and without being taken out wide for a McHappy Meal, Excel Oneself can go very close to winning this.

THE FAST LANE 19

What can’t be over-looked are the overnight odds of 6 to 1 for Pearl Win, which started at over 50s at its last start. This could mean that the Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie, Big Mac and Mayor McCheese have been singing the same song- very loudly.

THE FAST LANE 20

THE FAST LANE 21

SELECTIONS: (4-6)-3-5-9-12

RACE 8

These last races at the city track usually see the hot pots being rolled, and there’s a sense of déjà-vu here.

'Why is it all repeats?'

Fat Choy Hong Kong scored at 55 to 1 two starts ago, and, though that win was something of a fluke, the same fluke could be repeated here if it gets handed an easy lead up front again for apprentice Alvin Ng.

THE FAST LANE 23

There’s then the lightly weighted Amazingly that could run into the placings at decent odds with the leading chances looking to be those at the top of the ratings- Romantic Touch, Santa Fe Sun with Damian Lane replacing Zac Purton and racing down a class tonight along with Twin Delight.
