DIVINE INTERCEPTION 0

Race 1

Blizzard won like a promising type at its first start in Hong Kong recently, and despite carrying topweight and drawn barrier 11, and, hopefully, another winner for the unassuming and good bloke Andy Suborics who isn’t exactly flooded with offers to get on winning rides.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 1

The big stumbling block to this happy ending might be a first starter from the all-conquering John Moore stable in One More World which has been working very well and has the Magic Man aboard.

Race 4

The Chiu Yui-owned and Dennis Yip-trained Jun Jun earned Howard Cheng a long holiday in the wilderness four starts ago when it flew to turn up late for the party.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 3

Moreira took over the ride at its next start where it came eighth as if to say, “Look! Even Magic doesn’t work on this horse!” But that eighth was in Class 4 to the very promising Contentment when beaten only three lengths over the 1400 metres it tackles here with Umberto Rispoli retaining the ride following its good second at its last start to Gold Precious. Though carrying topweight, Jun Ju should be too good for this lot.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 4

Rispoli’s future papa-in-law takes over from lover boy on Optimizational Star and a family quinella would not surprise- and neither would a “Jun” quinella as the somewhat eccentric horse owner- Kwok Ho- who bets on every horse in a race, has his Jun Hao running here which came a close second to Optimizational Star at its last start with Frenchman Maxime Guyon retaining the ride.

SELECTIONS: 1-6-8-5

Race 5

The patched up, injury plagued Health Wise owned by “Doctor” Pato Leung will be in the money again, but I very much doubt Ollie Delouze can get it home first again and can’t have it on a winning line. Plus, “Potatohead” has tipped his horse via email to his mailing list so be prepared to see his one-time lead singer when with pop band The Loosers-Nat Chan-lurking around to photobomb the winner’s enclosure.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 5

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 6

Personally, even though he rode some rather unique races on Wednesday, Mirco Demuro, below, reunited with Supreme Profit on which he’s won on over course and distance, appeals as double banker material with King Of Patch, which should appreciate the step up in distance to 1600 metres.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 7

SELECTIONS: (5-9)-1-13-14

Race 6

Moreira is reunited with John Moore’s Dashing Fellow and though not one of “my” horses, it’s racing down a class here, and appears to be a safe banker. Then again, most bankers are wankers.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 8

Unique Joyous goes well for Vincent Ho and must be considered along with Ambitious Speedy, O’Socoole- a cool Scotsman?- and Gold Precious which might be at good odds because of the booking of battler Jacky Tong.

Take Dashing Fellow outta this race and any one of the runners can win this, so finding good legs, as in one’s social life, is a tough task, Kemo Sabay.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 9

SELECTIONS: 2-3-6-12

Race 7

A tough race made even tougher wondering what Mirco Demuro might get up to on the Tony Cruz-trained and aptly named Crazy Buddies. One hears that Cruzy has been giving The Demuro One one-on-one lessons on how to get his rides out of the barriers post haste, so, fingers crossed that there won’t be any spaghetti Western-type moves by the crazy Italian.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 10

SELECTIONS: 6-10-9-4

Race 8

The HK Classic Mile and a fascinating race because of all the horse operas involved: Has billionaire Pan Sutong overpaid for his latest purchase Giant Treasure, which won some very weak races in the UK where it raced as Sea Defence, and will it return even a third of the investment?

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 11

Then, will that shocking bad run by the one-time Gai Waterhouse-trained Divine Calling owned by new racing interests from Mainland China when ridden by the Magic Man after its super-impressive first-start win with The Zac Attack aboard be put down to weird Divine Interception?

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 12

Or should we just forget both of these gallopers and stay with Beauty Only despite two lacklustre efforts and definitely looking for longer than 1600 metres- or, more interestingly, watch out for Helene Happy Star and forget all about its last run where the riding tactics went awry.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 13

SELECTIONS: 1-9-3-10

Race 9

Monsieur Mosse has a chance to bow out with a winner here on Radiant Bunny if his appeal against a 15 meeting suspension for his “faltering” ride on the Chris So-trained Redkirk Warrior fails.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 14

SELECTIONS: 8-2-11-10

Race 10

A very tough race to end proceedings where another Mosse ride catches the eye: Tableaux. Usually, a regular ride for another French gentleman of the turf in Olivier Delouze, I think this is the first time Mosse has been on this galloper from which much was expected but nothing much has been delivered to the table.

DIVINE INTERCEPTION 15

Got Fly won well at its last start for the Gibson-Whyte team and, looking like a horse with plenty of upside, will start favourite and be the single banker on many Quartet tickets. Perhaps take it and Tableaux as double bankers.
