During those sometime long breaks between races, five bartenders from some of the most popular bars and restaurants from Lan Kwai Fong and Soho, the trendiest areas in Hong Kong, were competing in the first round of the Happy Wednesday Cocktail Challenge.

How does it work? The bartenders create original cocktails named after Hong Kong’s leading horses and with work judged on taste and presentation by a group of race-goers.

After the first round, the bartender who created the “California Memory” was judged the winner, though, frankly, they were all winners in our books for being damn good sports and creating a fun atmosphere.

Round 2 commences at all the venues at Happy Valley Racecourse next Wednesday.
