“Disgraced” former Hong Kong champion apprentice Marco Chui made his debut as a senior jockey in Perth today.

This was his first time riding after over a year in the wilderness.

Despite having popular former Western Australian jockey John Claite as his agent, Chui had only two rides to prove his worth.

Both were no-hopers and started accordingly at odds of over 30s.

Still, the Chinese jockey managed a terrific ride on the 38 to 1 shot “Des Vult” and which came in second in the last race of the day at Belmont.

It paid $8.40 for its placing.
